Due the IROS paper deadline on March 1, we are moving the Industry & Student Mixer to Tuesday, March 14.
Please RSVP below. The form provides a space for you to upload your updated resume. They will be printed and waiting for you at the event.
In addition to meeting with reps from industry, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy beer, wine, and appetizers.
LOCATION: Marcus Nanotechnology Building, Room 1116-1118 (345 Ferst Dr.—where we traditionally hold the IRIM seminars)
TIME: 3-5 p.m.
SETUP: Series of small tables; every 5 minutes you will see new industry reps, so this is very much a speed-networking event
PREP: Sell yourself! Practice your pitch with lab mates and friends. You only have 5 minutes to make sure you stand out, so be succinct and professional.
ATTIRE: You know the saying about making a first impression…. What you wear is up to you, but how you appear also helps you better sell yourself, and companies are more likely to appreciate and remember professionally dressed participants.
RESUMES: Bring copies of your resume/CV. It’s better to have more than not enough, so 30 is a good number.
QR CODES: Some industry reps may appreciate the convenience of also being able to capture your information electronically. Consider creating a QR code of your online resume and printing it out on a sheet of paper where it may be scanned — or add it to your printed resumes. (You can easily generate a QR code at http://www.qr-code-generator.com or similar free websites.)
